    Description

Paul Bellino (1918-2010) was an artist and illustrator for the Birmingham News during the 1930's and 1940's.  This is an original draft of one of his works from 1941.  Shows a young boy standing over a carved pumpkin in preparation for Halloween.  Our guess is that this was a proposed cover for a Halloween insert for the newspaper.  Printed on illustrator's board.  Measures 15" X 20."  The board has darkened with age.  All four corners are soft.  You can see where the piece has been handled around the edges.  Some nicks and wear at the edges.  Classic example of Art Deco style artwork.  Bellino signed his work a variety of ways.  This piece is a simple P.B.  He also signed P. Bellino and Paul Bellino.  One of a kind art work.
