NOS 1968 Cadillac dealer sales brochure new car catalog. 24 pages, measures 11 1/8" wide x 8 5/8" high.
This brochure is BRAND NEW, pulled directly from a full box of NOS brochures a dealer had. However, condition is listed as "Used" because apparently enough moisture got into the box causing the staples at the spine to rust, causing the center 4-page spread to come loose and slightly staining the white paper under the staples.
Having worked many years in printing myself,
I noticed a couple flaws from the original printing on this brochure:
- the paper stock has a slight horizontal "crease" near the spine on just the inside 4 page spread. This then caused a small white mark in the solid black backgrounds in two of the photos (see image #4).
- there is a very faint vertical smudge of ink transferred from the opposite page onto the Eldorado info page (see image #3, under the first "D"in "Eldorado").
I would guess these minor flaws might have been enough to cause Cadillac to reject the batch, which could explain finding a full unopened box of brochures 50 years later. Or perhaps they simply printed
too many
.
Whatever the case and despite these issues, this original brochure looks and feels fresh off the press, with crisp corners and no handling wear anywhere. If not for the rusty staples and loose inner spread, this would be mint.
